Winter Preparation...

It's time to get ready for winter, and yes, that means cleaning up the outside of your home before it's covered in snow. This means washing off that deck, making sure your driveway looks its best, and gearing up your furnace to provide you with lovely warmth all winter long. These things can all be done surprisingly easy, including getting your home draft-free so you don't lose all your heat in the winter time (which saves you money!).

Homemade Deck Cleaner, Quick and Easy! is a super effective way to clean off your deck both now and in the spring once the snow has gone. This solution will come in handy over and over again, and is super easy (and chemical-free) to make!

Cold and Flu Season...Yay....:(

Gritty eyes, stuffy, runny nose, nausea, aches and pains...oh my! With cough and cold syrups being expensive, expansive (what to choose?) and not always safe, how do you make yourself feel better before you feel worse? (yes, chicken soup does boost your immunity and help you get better, sooner, BTW...)

Homemade Nasal Sprays and Eye Washes is a great start. When a cold has taken over your sinuses, give yourself a fighting chance by helping to break up that mucous and flush it out with this safe, easy, and homemade spray.

The Best Herbal Teas for a Cough or Cold can be a super lifesaver (and remember, for a flu, any type of sodium-reduced broth is a great remedy) can help you feel better. Believe it or not, you can treat a nasty cough by putting white sugar on a cut white onion, allowing the sugar to turn to syrup overnight, and then drinking the sugary onion syrup the next morning. Tried and true old-school remedy- that WORKS!

PS- the best remedy for your cold, flu, and coughing symptoms is super simple and cheap- honey, lemon juice, and water. Stay hydrated, stay healing...stay WELL this season!

Long, Beautiful, HAIR!

Winter is fast approaching, which means it's time to start paying attention to HAIR- keeping hair soft, luxurious and to keep hair from drying out during the harsh winter months can be harder than it is to keep warm. Fireplaces and heat indoors can dry out hair quicker than you can say 'split ends', so it's time to start repairing and caring for hair before the harsh winter makes it look like a frizzy mop.

Cure for Dry, Frizzy Hair offers a super quick and easy 'duh' solution to dry, frizzy hair!

Does Hair Grow Faster in the Winter?  - it sure seems like it does to me!

Prevent Split Ends and Hair Breakage is perhaps the best advice you can receive for those harsh winter months!

PS- avocado is the BEST food ever when it comes to healthy hair and nails- eat avocado for healthy hair and nails, and make an avocado paste to place on your hair to rehydrate it, quick and easy! The cheapest and yummiest hair mask you will ever use!

Varicose Veins- Relieve That Pain and have Great Legs!

Did you know that witch hazel is a great remedy for the pain and swelling of varicose veins? That's what makes witch hazel great for hemorrhoids as well (just dab the witch hazel on the source directly for relief from swelling, pain, and discomfort...). Varicose veins are no laughing matter, and while getting your legs moving and keeping an ideal weight is the best way to prevent them, treating varicose veins isn't all too complicated on its own.

Homemade Varicose Vein Cream is a great way to treat the pain and appearance of these veins (even broken capillaries on the face). Natural Treatment for Varicose Veins can also help keep future veins at bay, but prevention is key, after all- How to Prevent Varicose Veins and Improve Circulation Naturally helps to keep those nasty veins at bay to begin with!

Beauty and the Cheap...

Don't get me wrong, I love to make sure I look my best, but that usually requires spending a ton on stuff like eye creams, anti-wrinkle this, anti-sag that. I mean, come on! I'm 27 years old and I'll be broke trying to get my piece of the fountain of youth...unless...I learn how to make anti-get old (ha ha) stuff myself. So, without further ado, Homemade Toner for Wrinkles  (super quick and cheap and easy- yay!) and find out how rosehip seed oil is your very very best friend in
Rosehip Seed Oil for Wrinkles, Fine Lines, and Stretch Marks - trust me, it's better than Bio Oil (which is pricey) ANY DAY.

If you are having trouble finding natural ingredients on a daily basis, then check out eBay- it's my main source for buying herbs and ingredients that are tough to find in the store, like the rosehip seed oil...

PS- OLIVE OIL IS A GREAT MOISTURIZER BEFORE BED- IT JUST MAY BE THE BEST ANTI-WRINKLE CREAM YOU'VE EVER USED...

EEK! Mice!

I HATE mice, and for some reason my dog is a decent mouser while my cat is the one who brings in live mice and lets them run loose in the house. So, I had to figure out a way to get rid of the critters without poisoning my own pets in the meantime.
Repelling Mice: Natural Mouse Repellent is a super solution, particularly if you don't want mice in the first place and have pets in your home that you don't want to poison. This natural mouse repellent will both keep mice away and drive them out of your home, quick and easy. No poison required. A great repellent with ingredients you already have! Enjoy!

Nasty BBQ Grill?

Summer is coming to an end (sigh...) and it's time to get that BBQ grill nice and shiny for next year. But with all that grime and dried, charred stuff on there, it's easier to ignore it than not. However, you can indeed Clean Off Your Grill, Quick and Easy! using items you already have in your home. Even that tin foil you used to avoid drippings on the grill are going to come in super handy! Hair, Hair Everywhere, On My Face, and YUCK, "Down There"...

Being a hairy beast isn't such a great thing, especially for us ladies who like to stay trimmed and feminine all over. So, Homemade Leg Wax is a great solution, and FINALLY gives you something to do with all those old T-shirts! Plus, you aren't shaving as often (note: witch hazel can help relieve those nasty razor bumps) and don't have to deal with all those stubbles. And, YES, it is safe to use this leg wax on your bikini area because the ingredients are all natural.

Scared to wax because of the pain? How to Relieve Pain when Waxing Hair will keep you feeling your best before and after your waxing experience (a few cocktails may help as well...)

Hair on the face is another issue altogether. Yes, you can wax that nasty hair off, or you can be a bit more humane and simply lighten that hair so it can't be seen (I personally have no real issue with my little mustache, but hey, women differ in how they prefer to deal with these little hairy issues). Natural Lip Hair Bleach is safe, natural, and effective. You will quickly realize why lemon juice is your very best friend (along with witch hazel, of course...)               Enjoy!

Got Flies? Homemade 'Git-rid-of-em' Remedies!

Flies, those nasty little buggers. Aside breaking out the flyswatter or gag-inducing bugspray, what do you do? Well, you can do what I do and get a little creative. There are quite a few ways to rid your home of flies (hint: flies HATE vinegar) without poisoning your own household.
Got Flies? Homemade Fly Paper This super easy way to get rid of flies involves ingredients you already have.

Or, if killing them on the spot (or even just repelling them) is your thing, how about Homemade, Chemical-free Bug Spray for Your Home that won't break the bank or fill your lungs with dangerous toxins? I won't go a summer without it (I live near a field of cows, so our flies are a huge nuisance)!

And, if you have a bit of a green thumb (unlike me, sigh...), then you should know of plants and herbs that flies actually cannot stand to be around. Perhaps the ultimate (and most green) way to rid your home of pesky flies,  Plants that Repel Flies  can be a huge lifesaver, and look prettier, too!

It's ALL About the HAIR...

Since I haven't combed my hair since last Friday (seriously), and I get tangles in my hair by simply looking at the wind, detangler is my best friend. But Homemade Hair Detangler Spray is quick, easy, and super cheap! You can make it yourself (you already have the ingredients, I promise)... Your kiddos will thank you, too!

Oh, and if you want to liven up your blah hair color without using those harsh chemicals and stinky hair dyes, why don't you try to Make Your Own Hair Dye! It's a lot easier than you would think, and doesn't leave you with dry, damaged hair afterwards! Enjoy!

(personally, that's the reason why I buy canned beets- I love the juice for putting in my conditioner and shampoo bottles; it smells great and adds a lovely red highlight, I've been doing this for years for my natural copper highlights :)

Into making your own hair products? Make Your Own Hair Spray! and Homemade Hair Gel too- when you run out of beauty products (or just don't want all that super heavy gunk in your hair) these recipes can be a real lifesaver, and are healthier on your hair!
